This family happens to be my husband’s cousin Jenny, her husband Steeve, and the 3 rascals! They are our only other family in Vancouver (everyone else is in Ontario), and I love these guys! Sometimes it can actually be more difficult to photograph your family, especially when it comes to kids who know you really well. I find that kids that don’t know you, have a certain level of respect. With these 3, I had them running around, and running away, and sticking out their tongues… it was all I could do to have them stand still for 3 seconds to snap a quick shot! Then we had a leaf throwing fiasco and the little one got upset because “everyone was throwing the leaves at me!”… and that was all she wrote!! Not another smile until she was back in the car on the way home. But it was alright because I still got some fantastic shots in beautiful light!! The key was bribes and encouraging a couple of the silly pictures with the tongues out, etc. (They don’t need to know that you’ll never deliver those!! And Mom & Dad eventually catch on to what you’re doing)

Autumn, golden hour and Trout Lake definitely make a beautiful combination!!
