This Lighthouse Park engagement photography session almost didn’t happen. But, OMG, I’m so excited it did! Amy and Dean had booked their wedding photography with Family Creative Imagery, but turned down our Love and Adventure session. A friend had already taken photos, and they didn’t think it was necessary to spend money on more photos before the big day.
But, at Family Creative Imagery, we specifically created a complimentary engagement session, that we call a “Love and Adventure Session” to go with every wedding photography package. It just makes sense! We love getting to know a couple in a more intimate way. It’s like a coaching and consult session rolled into one. Amy and Dean went for it!
I was super excited for Amy and Dean’s wedding day because I had an amazing time photographing their friends back in 2015. Dean was a groomsman at Taralyn and David’s wedding. Fun friends at fun weddings always means more fun times.
They chose Dean’s family house in West Vancouver as their venue, but when they finally tallied up the guests they knew they needed a bigger space. The Hart House was the next favourite venue on the list They booked it!
After hearing their story, I thought we should shoot the Love and Adventure Session in West Vancouver. Dean and Amy were coming from Ladner, and that as you know can be an unpredictable drive across town. So, I was waiting for them patiently at Lighthouse Park.
Pokemon Go was fadding like crazy, and call me a geek, but I turned on the app and couldn’t believe I caught a unique flaming horse — Ponyta. It must have been a sign that the sunset session was going to be awesome 🙂
Amy and Dean pulled up and excitedly jump out of their car. We ventured down the path less travelled to Juniper Point. It popped us out on the west side of the peak. The light from the sun was perfect. Little islands peeked out from the stunning waters of Howe Sound. It was pretty sweet.
As you can see, Amy’s smile is infectious. And, Dean clearly adores her.
Getting to know each other in this setting was amazing. Dean was a little nervous, so I coached him through it. By the end, they were relaxed and looked like naturals in front of my camera. We left excited about their wedding day.
Booking a Love and Adventure session, made Amy and Dean’s wedding day go a lot smoother than anticipated. Amy and Dean had time to enjoy their day, they didn’t need a whole lot of direction. And, there were no awkward moments in trying to get the shot—it just happened 🙂
